Beatrice Bulteau was born in Sancerre, “Val de Loire”, France in 1959, and was encouraged to paint from an early age by her artist mother, Helen Clement. After 3 years of study at the Sorbonne in Paris, Beatrice decided to pursue her career as a self taught painter, developing her own naturalistic style based on form and images collected on her extensive travels throughout Europe. With her move to Lisbon, Portugal in 1980 she began series of studies with horses and movement, and developed her current impressionistic style in watercolor.
Since 1985 Beatrice exhibited in galleries in Paris, San Francisco, Tokyo and further 30 galleries throughout the United States of America, Europe and recently in Orient and Middle Orient.

Her favorite subject is the horse whose morphology, emotional essence and movement, she has been able to capture with extraordinary ability.
For more than thirty years the Lusitano and the arabian horses have fascinated Beatrice Bulteau.

Her works inspired several portuguese poets.
Fernando Tavares Rodrigues wrote in her book "Magical horses":

"She takes us to another place where dreams and beauty leave us speechless. Ceramic clad they invade our houses and transport us into an ever-present antiquity or, tile-mounted, they naively provoke our classic imagination like windows inviting us to an impossible escape.
The works of Beatrice Bulteau are both generous and selfish. They all invite us to dream her dreams - dreams that can also be ours. She makes us feel, makes us look, makes us smell. She
appeals to us to touch, to ride, to tame. And after, let’s fly.
As if all horses were Pegasus and us just old gods chained to earth."
